Azalea Capital is pleased to announce its portfolio company, The Muffin Mam, Inc., a leading manufacturer of baked goods, has broken ground on a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Laurens, SC.  The 100,000 square foot facility, located in the Hunter Industrial Park in Laurens, will support the future growth of the Company with operations to begin in the fourth quarter of 2019.  Approximately 110 new jobs will be created with this expansion.

Dewey Armstrong, CEO of The Muffin Mam, indicates “Our new Laurens facility will house high capacity baking equipment, which will produce muffins, cupcakes, pound cakes, crème cakes, brownies, and decorated layer cakes, that are sold across the U.S. and internationally through leading retail grocers and food service channels. The new facility will complement our existing facility in Simpsonville, SC, and allow us to better serve our customers with new products and greater capacity.”

The Muffin Mam, Inc. also recently added two new members to its board of directors, Mr. Bill Hendrix and Mr. Daryl Brewster.  Mr. Hendrix is the former COO of Reliance Electric and a former Principal of Clayton, Dubilier and Rice, where he led multiple portfolio companies.  Mr. Brewster is the former President of Kraft Foods’ U.S. Snack Business, as well as the former CEO of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.  Mr. Armstrong states “We are very fortunate to partner with two, well respected business leaders who bring tremendous experience and wisdom to our Board.  We truly look forward to working with Bill and Daryl, as we seek to realize the opportunity we have to grow The Muffin Mam business.”
